A New Chapter for the Club

Late 2025 marked the start of something bigger: a refinement of our style and technique, following the principles of Rōsei-Dō and staying true to the heart of Jujutsu, “The Gentle Art.”

Rōsei-Dō, “The Way of Maturity and Refinement,” is the guiding principle behind this new chapter. It’s about training smarter as we grow, valuing precision and understanding over brute force, and constantly refining our craft rather than settling once a technique “works.”

We’ve spent this time refining every part of our practice, rolls, breakfalls, throws, groundwork, striking, blocking, joint locks, pressure points, kata, weaponry, and martial application, sharpening our self-defence so it’s more effective with less effort.

With that came a new syllabus and a new logo, both reflecting who we really are: an inclusive club rooted in traditional Japanese martial arts. Our old name was sometimes mistaken for modern “Combat Jiu-Jitsu.” Just to be clear, we have no ties to BJJ, MMA, or hybrid sport systems. What we do is different, and it deserves a name that says so.

That name is Rōsei-Ryū Jūjutsu:
“The School of Mature, Refined Gentle Art.”

Don’t let the elegance fool you. The techniques still work, the attacker still feels it, and we still hit hard. We’ve simply sharpened our craft to get more from every technique with less effort and deeper understanding.
